How it works
From a sentence to a real font file
01 You describe it
Type a style, a mood or a theme. The generator picks a matching set of open-source letter shapes to start from — script, serif, pixel, gothic and more — or you can choose one yourself.
02 AI redraws every letter
An image model redraws all 94 characters in your style on one specimen sheet, so capitals, lowercase, digits and punctuation share the same look.
03 It becomes a font
Each drawing is traced into smooth vector outlines, spaced using proven letter metrics, and packed into a TrueType file you can install anywhere.
What's in the file
A font you can actually use
- A–Z, a–z, 0–9 and 32 punctuation marks and symbols
- TrueType (.ttf) — Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android
- Works in Word, Canva, Photoshop, Figma, Cricut and more
- Free for personal and commercial use (SIL Open Font License)
- No accented letters yet (é, ü, ñ)
- One weight per font — generate again for a bolder version
Prompt tips
Describe shapes, not colors
A font is a set of single-color shapes, so the best descriptions talk about form: dripping, rounded, sharp, chunky, tall, narrow, curly, jagged, hand-drawn. Themes work well too — horror, western, sci-fi, wedding, arcade — because they imply a shape.
If the letters come out in the wrong basic style, set Letter shape yourself (for example Bold script or Pixel). Every run is different, so press New variation until one fits. Need ideas? Browse the font ideas list.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI font generator free?
Yes. Generating and downloading fonts is free and needs no account. A small hourly and daily limit per visitor keeps the shared GPU available for everyone.
Can I use the fonts commercially?
Yes. Every font you generate is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, so you can use it in personal and commercial work — logos, posters, videos, products, websites and apps. The one thing the license does not allow is selling the font file on its own.
What file do I get?
A TrueType font (.ttf) with the full basic Latin set: A–Z, a–z, 0–9 and the 32 common punctuation and symbol characters. TTF installs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android and works in Word, Google Docs uploads, Canva, Photoshop, Figma, Cricut Design Space and most other apps.
How does it turn a description into a font?
It starts from an open-source letter skeleton that matches your style (script, serif, pixel, and so on), lets an image AI redraw every character in your style, then traces each letter into smooth vector outlines and assembles a real font file with proper spacing.
How long does it take?
Usually under a minute. If other people are generating at the same moment you join a short queue, and the page shows your place in line.
Why doesn't my font look exactly like I imagined?
Fonts are single-color shapes, so colors, textures and glows in a description can only show up as shape changes. Describe the shape and mood ("dripping", "rounded", "sharp", "tall and narrow"), pick a letter shape if Auto chose the wrong one, and press New variation for another take.
Does it include accents or other languages?
Not yet. The fonts cover basic Latin (English letters, digits and punctuation). Accented letters such as é or ü will fall back to another font on your device.
What happens to my description?
It is sent to our own GPU server to make the font and is not stored afterwards. The finished font is kept for about an hour so you can download it, then deleted. See the privacy policy for details.
